Sunday Net Medal – Quietly Competitive

Hi everyone,

A fairly straightforward Sunday at the club with our Net Medal, with the men off the whites and the ladies off the yellows for the weekend’s medal round. Nothing overly dramatic to report today — which usually means the golf did the talking.

The weather behaved nicely for most of the field, providing pleasant conditions for the members. The only ones to feel a little moisture were the last of the green fee players, who caught a brief sun shower just as they wrapped up their rounds. Timing is everything.

Despite no twos being recorded, there were still some excellent net scores posted to keep the leaderboard nice and spicy.

We are wondering though if we need a new water feature on the course, It's Raing Men(Man) springs to mind?.

 Pennant Update

We also had a busy day on the Pennant front.

Queenstown hosted five men’s pennant teams taking on visiting clubs. We’ll leave the full storytelling and heroic deeds from those matches to be properly extolled in the Chronicle.

Our ladies pennant team travelled to Arrowtown, where they faced the hosts while Millbrook took on The Hills.

The ladies’ format works a little differently from the men’s — each hole contributes to the overall score — and the team essentially finished the day with two wins, a half, and three losses. That sounds like the losses on paper are bad, but every hole counts toward the overall team tally across the three rounds, so those points still contribute toward the final standings.

From Left to right with Arrowtowns Stickman in the middle we have:

Cheli Larsen, Julie Grant, Dezlee Risby, Judy Sim, Karen Mitchell(team manager and cheerleader), Jo Denton and Kelly MacKenzie. Absent Suzanne Vidak

All in all, a steady Sunday of medal golf, solid scoring, and plenty of competitive golf happening around the region.

See you all back out there soon.
