Blue Tee Medal – Feeling Blue? Not Darren Hill!
Hi everyone,
The first Saturday of the month rolled around again which means only one thing at Queenstown — the monthly ritual of the Blue Tee Medal. A format that is widely discussed around the clubhouse, often with more… let’s say concerned tones than excitement.
Does that mean our members are left feeling a little blue after the experience? Perhaps for some… but not Darren Hill.
Darren put together an absolute beauty of a round today, firing 76 off the stick. Subtract his playing handicap of 13 and you’re left with a superb nett 63, the standout score of the day and one that will be talked about for a while yet.
The day started sunny, but by the afternoon things turned very muggy, and many players were quietly thankful for the briefest of sun showers that rolled through to take the edge off the heat.

Club Champs Update
There were plenty of Club Championship matches played today across several divisions. Two matches went beyond the regulation 18 holes, while others were a little quicker to the kill — so to speak.
Great to see the matches progressing well. Keep up the good work everyone, and we’re looking forward to seeing how things shape up heading toward the finals on April 11th.
Ladies- we have not forgotten you- As this is the first round of your medal with the second round to come on Tuesday we will be holding the scorecards under lock and key but be aware the bar has been set high for the putting, or should that be low???

Left to right- Julianne Bowman, Jeri Elliot, Jenny Browne and Sue Cunningham
While the men might have been feeling a bit blue, these lovely ladies were thrilled to be basking in the gold of some Queenstown sun and Yellow tees.
Another entertaining Saturday at the club — a little heat, a little rain, plenty of good golf, and one round that certainly didn’t feel blue at all.
See you all next week.
